Because Ideas Matter
The Academy of Ideas's mission is to expand the boundaries of public debate by organising conferences, discussions and salons, and publishing written conversations and exchanges.
The Academy of Ideas relies on the financial support of individuals to continue our work. Joining the Academy of Ideas as an associate is a way of showing your support for our efforts to create a public space where ideas can be contested without restraint. Our flagship project is a yearly two-day festival, the BATTLE OF IDEAS.
The Academy of Ideas founded the acclaimed Sixth Form debating competition, DEBATING MATTERS, a weekend summer university, THE ACADEMY and LIVING FREEDOM, a residential school in London for 18- to 25-year-olds, educational projects now organised by a charity, boi. Find out more about the charity's work here.

“I was impressed by the intensity of the debate and the high level of intellectual engagement, not least by the audience. It was an invigorating, even exhilarating experience…The Battle of Ideas is a fantastic concept, may it spread epidemically to the rest of the world.”
