Are we living in the ‘Anthropocene’?

Podcast: Dr Alex Standish talks about why an apparently dry academic debate reflects uncertainty about the role of humanity today.

Geologists are now actively discussing whether human influence on the planet is so great that we should declare a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene. But the term has become widely used in academia and beyond. Following on from the success of the Battle of Ideas debate on the issue, we asked the debate producer, Dr Alex Standish, to join us to discuss the ideas further.
