INTRODUCTION
This final tour – and the second tour on the art of war – will focus on the Cast Court and main corridor of the Victoria and Albert Museum. We will expand on the theme of Art and War by exploring sculptures from Roman times through to the late 19th Century, including non European artworks. We will consider a range of themes, including: heroism; the beauty of the struggling body and psychological and physical distress; propaganda and power; civilisation over barbarism, and the power of materials, techniques and scale in sculpture to convey physical might and complex emotional states.
